The office serves the following primary purposes:
For the RWTH Aachen University International Office, the New York office is the latest in a series of initiatives focusing on collaboration with North America. In particular, since 2007 UROP (Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program) has provided students from universities in the USA and Canada with the opportunity to complete a summer research internship in a research facility or lab at RWTH Aachen University. RWTH students are likewise placed in internships in North American university labs. The university has also designated three "Research Ambassadors—RWTH Aachen University graduate students who are currently conducting a research project in the USA and are trained to advise North American students and scholars about research opportunities at RWTH Aachen.
